Anglo Saxon High Cross

Client: Bede Monastry Museum, Jarrow

Hand carved red sandstone, 3m high

Landmark feature in the open air Anglo Saxon museum Bede's World. A generic reconstruction of the 8th century Northumbrian Anglo Saxon sculptural style combined with modern imagery. The imagery uses the loaves and fishes story to reference the famous Jarrow march and a welder working on a ship keel to reflect the modern day marine engineering around the site.
